This is a book written about the genocide in Cambodia. Loung Ung grew up to the age of 5 before the genocide started. Her father was a diplomat and was one of the first killed she was there to witness this horrible crime. After watching her father die she her mother and two younger sisters and two brothers were sent to work camps. At the work camps they tried to stay together but fate would not have that and they were separated her older brother killed and her mother and youngest sister killed. She and her younger sister and brother were taken to a camp to learn how to be child solders after several months they were able to escape and survive to tell their sad tale.
