Night COMPARE
Genocide involves mass killings. In the end they are seen as senseless violence. The Cambodia Genocide and the Holocaust are both considered Genocide because of the similar traits they share. In Night by Elie Wiesel the story gives an in-depth look on not only how this happened but why they were organized into 2 sides like they were.
The Jews and the Germans. Hitler organized these groups so that the Germans would gain world power. The Jews were to be eliminated on the popular belief that they were sub human and were believed as the cause of world issues. The SS and the Jews. These groups were chosen because Hitler believed German heritage was the dominant race. While the Jews with no desire to prove there selves better than anyone else were put into their place and exterminated because they were different.
Extermination began when Hitler vowed to rid the world of Jews. Over 6million Jewish people were killed. Taken from their homes under force and like those in Cambodia they were taken to camps to work until they were no fit or were no longer any use to their enemies. The men, women, and children in both Cambodia and Night were both exterminated in a senseless raid not because they themselves were evil but because their enemies felt the right to do so and the reason they felt the right to do so was because of their leaders. Hitler and Pol Pot manipulated people into doing their dirty work in order to achieve what they wanted. What they wanted was to lead and change their countries into the ideal state they believed was right
Contrast
Thought these genocides have similar qualification to make them both such horrific genocides there is also many differences. For one the germans wished to have the Jews exterminated, a race different from them in every possible way. These people were not of the same decent as Hitler and his German comrades. This was an entirely different group of people. Those in the Cambodia Genocide were the same people. The same group, the only difference was how intellectual you were. If you were highly educated you were a threat, if you were a simple country folk you were better off.
