Extermination:
The Cambodian genocide is traced back to the 1975-1979 period of time. While in the midst of this terrible time, about 1.7 million people were violenty killed. That was about 20% of Cambodia's population, which all religious leaders, intellectuals, former members of the non-Communist government and military, and even those who were simply literate were targetted. The killing ended around the year of 1979.
The population was put to work as laborers in one federation of collective farms.
Anyone in opposition was killed.
Anyone refusing to leave their home, didn't go fast enough, or disobeyed were killed.
