The Killing Fields are a number of sites in Cambodia where large numbers of people were being killed and buried by the Khmer Rouge regime. About 20,000 mass grave sites indicated that at least 1,386,734 victims were found in these "killing Fields" of Cambodia. The total number of deaths from the Khmer Rouge policies, included; disease and starvation, range from about 1.7 to 2.5 million out of the population of around 8 million. -Cambodians who moved into the land were classified as the "new" people, the people who were poor farmers and were already living in cambodia were classified as the "base" people. Khmer Rouge’s goal was to have a society with only one class, so two classes were instantly emerged.
